The Best Sandals Resorts for Your Honeymoon
Everything the Bride and Groom Need to Know Before They Book
So you just got engaged. Congratulations! Now comes the fun part: planning the honeymoon. If Sandals has crossed your mind, you are already thinking in the right direction. Sandals Resorts are adults-only, all-inclusive, and built for couples. That means no kids splashing in the pool next to you, no surprise bar tabs at the end of the week, and a level of service that actually makes you feel like the newlyweds you are.
But here is the thing: not all Sandals resorts are created equal when it comes to honeymoons. Some are bigger and more lively. Others are intimate and tucked away. A few have overwater bungalows. And the vibe at each location is completely different depending on which island you choose.
Our team at Shoreline Destinations has been sending couples to Sandals for years. We know these resorts inside and out, and we are going to break down the best options so you can make the right call for your trip.

What Makes Sandals Different for Honeymooners
Before we get into specific resorts, let us talk about why Sandals works so well for honeymoons specifically.
Everything is included. Food, drinks, tips, water sports, scuba diving, entertainment, airport transfers. You name it. There is a reason couples book Sandals and then say they felt zero stress the whole week.
Sandals automatically honors your honeymoon. When you book through a travel advisor and let them know it is your honeymoon, the resort will typically set up a romantic turndown, a bottle of champagne, and a few sweet surprises. Little things go a long way.
Butler service is available at most properties. This is a game changer for honeymooners. Your butler handles everything from reserving your beach chairs in the morning to setting up a private dinner on the beach at sunset. More on this below.
Free scuba diving is included. Sandals offers PADI-certified scuba diving at no extra charge. A lot of couples try it for the first time on their honeymoon and it becomes a lifelong hobby.
No wristbands, no plastic cups. Sandals keeps the experience elevated. You feel like you are at a luxury resort, not an average all-inclusive.
💡 Insider Tip: Butler Service Is Worth It! If your budget allows, book a butler-level suite. Here is what most people do not realize until they get there: butler service at Sandals is not just about unpacking your luggage. Your butler is essentially a personal concierge available around the clock.
They handle your restaurant reservations so you never wait in line. They bring drinks directly to your beach chair. They coordinate your couples massage, your private beach dinner, and even stock your mini bar with exactly what you asked for before you arrived. Some couples have said their butler was the highlight of the entire trip.
Our Top Sandals Resorts for Honeymoons
Here are the resorts our team recommends most often for honeymooners, and what makes each one worth considering.
1. Sandals Caribbean cay | Montego Bay, Jamaica
Best for: Couples who want overwater bungalows with a private island feel.
Sandals Caribbean Cay has one of the most unique setups in the entire chain. The resort is located right in Montego Bay, but it also has a private island just offshore that you can reach by boat. That private island has its own beach, pool, and dining options. It is an experience you simply cannot find at other resorts.
The overwater bungalows here are stunning. Some have glass floors so you can look down at the water below, and they are all lit at night for an incredible ambiance. The bungalows numbered 6 through 12 tend to have the best views. The resort also recently underwent renovations, so many of the rooms feel fresh and updated.
What We Love About It
Private island accessible by boat from the resort
Overwater bungalows with glass floors and butler service included
Access to Sandals Montego Bay next door means more restaurants and bars
Only about 10 minutes from the Montego Bay airport, a nice bonus after a long travel day
Butler service guests receive VIP airport transfers, sometimes including BMW service and expedited immigration
Insider Tip: The infinity pool overwater villas here are in a completely different league than the standard bungalows. If you can stretch the budget, it is absolutely worth it. The private pool and the views from those rooms are something you will talk about for the rest of your lives.
Best for: Couples who want an overwater bungalow experience without the crowds.
Sandals South Coast is tucked away on the south side of Jamaica, far from the touristy Montego Bay strip. If your vision of a honeymoon involves peace, privacy, and long stretches of white sand with almost no one else around, this is your resort. The beach here is genuinely beautiful, and the overwater bungalows are set up in a heart-shaped configuration, which sounds a little cheesy until you actually see it in person.
The resort just completed a significant renovation, including a full overhaul of the Longbeach area. Rooms there were gutted and completely updated, with extended patios, tranquility tubs, and new swim-up suite options added at the pool level.
What We Love About It
Overwater bungalows AND an overwater wedding chapel and bar, unique to this property
50 acres of resort space means it never feels overcrowded
The south side of Jamaica has some of the most pristine water in the Caribbean
Fresh renovations mean you are getting a resort that feels brand new
Insider Tip: Yes, the drive from the Montego Bay airport is about 90 minutes. Do not let that scare you off. The road trip is part of the experience, and once you arrive, the remoteness is exactly what makes it feel so special. Book your airport transfer through Sandals in advance so it is handled before you land.
Best for: Couples who want something completely different and brand new.
Sandals St. Vincent opened in March 2024 and quickly sold out for much of the rest of that year. That alone tells you something. This is the newest resort in the Sandals portfolio, and it shows. Everything here is fresh, modern, and designed with a level of thought that you can feel the moment you arrive.
The island of St. Vincent itself is less visited than Jamaica or St. Lucia, which means your honeymoon feels genuinely exclusive. The resort sits on a dramatic coastline with clifftop views, and the overwater bungalows here are unlike anything else Sandals has built. They are two-story, at about 1,250 square feet each, and feature a second-floor daybed with panoramic Caribbean views. Sandals has never built anything like them at any other property.
The dining is also a step up, with a focus on farm-to-table ingredients sourced from the island. A communal-style restaurant called Buccan specializes in local flavors, which gives the food a personality you do not always find at all-inclusive resorts.
What We Love About It
The only two-story overwater bungalows in the entire Sandals brand
Butler service guests at St. Vincent get airport transfers by boat, which is genuinely one of the coolest arrivals you will ever experience
Named Best New Hotel by Afar magazine and Best All-Inclusive Caribbean Resort by USA Today Readers Choice Awards in 2025
The private cove, overwater wedding chapel, and world-class diving set it apart from everything else in the Sandals lineup
Insider Tip: This one books up fast. Because St. Vincent is newer and smaller, availability for the overwater bungalows gets snapped up quickly, especially for peak months like June, July, and December. If St. Vincent is your dream, reach out to us early.
Best for: Couples who want dramatic scenery and a wow-factor location.
St. Lucia is one of the most beautiful islands in the Caribbean, full stop. The Sandals Grande St. Lucian sits on a peninsula surrounded by water on three sides, which gives you views that are hard to believe are real. Sunset here is something else entirely.
The overwater bungalows at this property are beautiful, though they tend to book up far in advance. If those are out of reach, the Grande Rondoval Butler Suite with a private pool sanctuary is an excellent alternative and still delivers a truly luxurious experience. The iconic restaurant Gordon's on the Pier serves dinner over the water at sunset and is one of the most romantic dining experiences in the Caribbean.
What We Love About It
Peninsula location means panoramic ocean views from almost everywhere on the property
Gordon's on the Pier is one of the best dining experiences in all of Sandals
The island itself is stunning. The Pitons, the rainforest, the fishing villages. St. Lucia gives you a real Caribbean experience beyond the resort gates.
Red Lane Spa is one of the better spas in the Sandals collection
Insider Tip: Book a dinner at Gordon's on the Pier specifically for sunset. The timing matters. Ask your travel advisor to coordinate this when you book so it is locked in before you arrive.
Best for: Couples who want total privacy in an intimate, boutique setting.
Sandals Royal Plantation is the smallest property in the entire Sandals portfolio, with just 74 rooms. Every single room is a butler suite. There are no upgrades to think about. Every guest gets butler service from day one.
The property sits on a cliffside in Ocho Rios with steps leading down to the beach. The scale of the resort is what makes it work. It never feels busy, even when it is full. If your idea of the perfect honeymoon is more cocktails and conversation than big resort activities, Royal Plantation is absolutely worth a look.
What We Love About It
All-butler, all the time. You do not have to pay extra to upgrade. It is built into the experience.
Only 74 rooms means a level of quiet and privacy that larger resorts simply cannot offer
Cliffside location with a beautiful natural setting in Ocho Rios
Access to nearby Sandals Ochi Beach for more dining, pools, and nightlife when you want it
Insider Tip: Royal Plantation is on the quieter end of the Sandals spectrum. If you are looking for a lively nightlife scene, this is not the right pick. But if you want to feel like you have a private Caribbean estate to yourselves, you will love it here.
Dining at Sandals: What You Actually Need to Know
One of the things we always tell couples before they arrive is this: do not try to eat at every restaurant. You will wear yourselves out. Pick a few that look interesting, book them in advance with your butler or at the front desk, and leave room for a few spontaneous meals too.
Sandals resorts typically offer between 5 and 16 restaurants per property. You will find everything from French cuisine to Japanese teppanyaki to fresh seafood right on the beach. The quality has improved significantly across the brand over the past few years.
The Bars Are Better Than You Think
Premium liquor is included across all Sandals resorts. That means top shelf. Not just the basics. Sandals serves Robert Mondavi wines, Grey Goose, Patron, and similar brands as part of your stay. If you are a wine or cocktail person, you will not be disappointed.
Each resort has multiple bars including swim-up bars, beach bars, and piano bars. Some even have overwater bars, like the one at Sandals South Coast. Ask your butler about the quieter bars if you want something more intimate instead of the main pool bar scene.
Things Every Couple Should Know Before Booking
Book overwater bungalows early. They sell out 6 to 12 months in advance, especially during peak honeymoon months. If this is on your list, do not wait.
Always tell them it is your honeymoon. When you arrive within 90 days of your wedding, Sandals typically provides a complimentary honeymoon package that includes champagne, romantic turndown service, and breakfast in bed. You just need to show proof of your marriage when you check in.
Pre-fill your butler preferences form. Before you arrive at a butler suite, Sandals will send you a preferences form. Fill it out completely. This is how your butler knows what pillows you like, what to stock in the mini bar, and what kind of experiences you want. Most people skip it. Do not be that couple.
Book your airport transfer before you land. Sandals offers private airport transfers that take you directly from the airport to the resort. It is one less thing to figure out when you are jet-lagged and ready to start your honeymoon.
