The Best Time to Visit Sandals Resorts

A Month-by-Month Guide for 2026 and 2027

One of the most common questions we get at Shoreline Destinations is some version of this: "We want to go to Sandals. When should we book?"

The short answer you will find on most travel blogs is "December through April is best." And sure, technically that is true. But it is also a little like telling someone the best time to eat at a great restaurant is a Saturday at 7pm. Accurate, not always realistic, and honestly not even the whole story. The real answer depends on what you are optimizing for: weather, budget, crowd levels, a specific resort room category, or just whatever week you can actually get off work.

The Caribbean has two main seasons: dry and wet. The dry season runs from December through April and delivers the most consistent, ideal weather. The wet season runs from June through November, bringing warmer temperatures, occasional afternoon showers, and much lower resort rates. Then there is the shoulder season, which is that sweet spot between them.

Here is the truth we tell every couple who reaches out to us: the best time to visit Sandals is whenever works for your life and your budget. Our job is to help you make the most of whatever window you have. This guide does exactly that.

Let's walk through it month by month.

Caribbean Seasons at a Glance

Every Sandals resort offers three levels of accommodation. Understanding the difference is the key to knowing whether the butler upgrade is right for you.

Peak Season

Dec 15 to Apr 30

Best weather, highest prices, most crowded. Ideal for milestone trips where weather certainty matters above all else.

Shoulder Season

May to Jun + Nov

Great weather with 30 to 40% savings over peak rates. Fewer crowds. Our personal favorite window.

Low Season

Jul to Oct

Warmest and most humid. Hurricane risk peaks in Sep and Oct. Savings of 40 to 60%. Great for budget-focused travelers.

Holiday Peak

Dec 21 to Jan 4

Premium pricing across the board. Book 12 months out for availability. Perfect for a New Year celebration escape.

Month-by-Month Breakdown

Here is exactly what to expect in each month across all Sandals destinations, based on weather patterns, pricing, and what we actually see from our clients' experiences.

Month Weather Crowds Pricing Our Take
January Excellent (78–84°F, very dry) Very High Peak One of the best weather months of the year. Perfect for honeymoons and milestone trips. Book 9 to 12 months out for top room categories.
February Excellent (78–84°F, dry) Very High Peak Valentine's month and the most romantic time in the Caribbean. Expect premium rates and sold-out rooms. Book early.
March Excellent (78–85°F, dry) High Peak Spring break crowds mid-month. Great weather all month. Try early or late March for slightly softer rates than February.
April Great (79–86°F, mostly dry) Moderate Peak to Shoulder Our sleeper pick for the best of both worlds. Easter week is expensive. The rest of April offers great conditions at softening prices.
May Great (80–87°F, minimal rain) Low Shoulder One of our personal favorite months. Weather nearly as good as peak season. Crowds drop and prices fall 20 to 30%.
June Good (82–88°F, some showers) Low Shoulder to Low Hurricane season begins June 1, but risk is minimal early in the month. Summer Sale deals kick in. Excellent value.
July Warm (84–91°F, humid) Moderate Low Busier due to school breaks. Rates lower than peak. Hot and humid, but the ocean is gorgeous and activities are fully on.
August Warm (84–91°F, humid) Low-Mod Low Mid-August marks the start of the statistical peak hurricane window through mid-October. Still delivers great value and lighter crowds. Trip insurance is essential.
September Variable (84–90°F, wetter) Very Low Lowest Peak hurricane season. Cheapest month to book. Best for flexible travelers with trip insurance. Southern islands are the safer bet.
October Variable, improving late month Very Low Very Low Early October carries hurricane risk. Late October improves significantly. Grenada, Barbados, and Curaçao are the best bets.
November Good (81–87°F, improving) Low-Mod Shoulder An underrated gem. Early November delivers near-perfect conditions at 30 to 35% below peak pricing. Avoid Thanksgiving week if price-sensitive.
December Excellent (78–84°F, dry) High-Peak High to Peak Great weather all month. Early December, before the 21st, offers excellent conditions at slightly softer rates before holiday pricing kicks in.

The Honest Deep Dive: Each Season Explained

☀️
Peak Season Mid-December through April | Best weather, highest prices

This is the Caribbean at its classic best. Temperatures hover between 78 and 86 degrees. Humidity is low. Trade winds keep things comfortable. It rains rarely, and when it does, it passes quickly. If you have a milestone trip on the line, a destination wedding, a honeymoon, or a big anniversary, this is your window.

The tradeoff is real: rates are 30 to 50% higher than low season, top-tier rooms sell out fast, and you will share the beach and restaurants with more fellow travelers than at any other time of year. None of that is a dealbreaker. But it does mean planning further ahead and setting a realistic budget.

What to know during peak season:

‣  Book 9 to 12 months in advance for best selection, especially Butler Suites and overwater villas
‣  Mid-January through early March is the sweet spot: excellent weather before spring break crowds arrive
‣  Valentine's week (Feb 8 to 16) is the single most romantic and most expensive week of the year
‣  Spring break (mid-March) brings a younger, more energetic crowd at most resorts
‣  Late April starts the transition and often hits that perfect combination of great weather and softening rates

✨  Advisor Insight: Peak season is absolutely worth it for the right trip. If you are celebrating a honeymoon or an anniversary that only happens once, the weather certainty is worth paying for. But if you have flexibility? I almost always guide couples toward late April or early May instead.

🌺
Shoulder Season May through June + November | Our Favorite Hidden Window

Here is what I genuinely love about the shoulder seasons: you get nearly identical weather to peak season, you pay significantly less, and the resorts feel more like yours. Fewer guests means faster service, easier restaurant reservations, and a beach that does not require a 7am chair claim.

May is the most underrated month in the entire Sandals calendar. Hurricane season has not started yet (it opens June 1). Temperatures are warm but not punishing. And rates drop 20 to 30% compared to the February peak. You will find couples who have done Sandals many times gravitating toward this window precisely because they know something the first-timers do not.

November is the shoulder season's secret weapon on the other side. Hurricane season is winding down, weather improves significantly after the first week, and rates are still well below peak. Early-to-mid November is genuinely one of the best times of year to visit and almost nobody talks about it. Just avoid Thanksgiving week if you are price-sensitive.

What to know during shoulder season:

‣  May is the sweet spot: peak-quality weather at 20 to 30% below peak pricing
‣  Early June is still excellent but get trip insurance as hurricane season begins June 1
‣  Early-to-mid November delivers beautiful conditions and strong pricing across all islands
‣  Book 4 to 6 months in advance for shoulder season; less urgency than peak but popular rooms still fill
‣  Sandals Summer Sale typically launches in May and runs through summer, making this window doubly attractive

✨  Advisor Insight: Late April through early June is the window I recommend most often to couples who can plan but do not have a hard date requirement. You get the Caribbean I describe in the brochure and you save real money. That is not a bad deal.

🌧️
Low Season July through October | Best Savings, Honest Weather Talk

Let us be upfront about this one, because a lot of travel blogs are not: July through October is hurricane season, and the weather is more variable than peak season. Temperatures run hotter (highs into the low 90s at some Jamaica resorts), humidity is higher, and you will get afternoon rain showers with regularity.

That said, the rain picture is often misunderstood. At most Caribbean resorts during most low season trips, the rain comes in short bursts, usually in the afternoon, and often clears within an hour. You will still have full beach days. The ocean is still gorgeous. Every restaurant is still open. And you are paying 40 to 60% less than peak season rates.

The exception is September and October, which are statistically the riskiest months for hurricanes. We do not shy away from saying that. If you travel in September or October, purchase trip insurance without question.

If a client is set on low season travel and wants to minimize weather risk, Sandals Royal Curacao and Sandals Barbados are our first recommendations every time. Both sit partially outside or on the edge of the hurricane belt and deliver a genuinely beautiful experience even in summer.

What to know during low season:

‣  Trip insurance is not optional in this window. It is essential. Full stop.
‣  July and early August are the most stable low-season months with the biggest savings
‣  September and October carry the highest hurricane risk and are best for ultra-flexible travelers only
‣  Southern Caribbean islands sit partially outside the hurricane belt, making them safer bets during this window
‣  Rates can be 40 to 60% below peak, making this the window for couples who want the Sandals experience at an accessible price

✨  Advisor Insight: One thing I always tell clients: the Sandals experience itself does not diminish in the low season. The food is just as good. The service is just as warm. The overwater villa is just as beautiful in August as in February. What changes is the weather risk and the price. Know what you are trading and make the decision that fits your life.

Which Islands Are Safest During Hurricane Season?

Not all Sandals destinations carry equal weather risk during the summer and fall. If you are visiting during low season, island selection matters.

Swipe to compare →
Island / Resort Risk Best Off-Season Window
Sandals Royal Curaçao Lowest Year-round. Located outside the hurricane belt near the Venezuelan coast. Desert-like climate with the least rainfall of any Sandals destination. Our top pick for summer travel.
Sandals Barbados / Sandals Royal Barbados Low Southeastern Caribbean positioning keeps it mostly outside the primary hurricane track. Side-by-side resorts with shared beach access. Excellent year-round, great in summer.
Sandals Grenada Low Southern Caribbean location with lower storm risk than Jamaica or St. Lucia. The rooftop pool and world-class snorkeling work beautifully in summer when the ocean is at its warmest.
Sandals Grande Antigua Moderate Naturally dry island with less rainfall than Jamaica or St. Lucia. June through July tend to be solid options here. One of our top destination wedding picks year-round.
Sandals Grande St. Lucian + St. Lucia resorts Moderate Lush and mountainous, which means some rain even in peak season. Still stunning in shoulder months. Best avoided in Sep to Oct. Stay at One, Play at Three exchange access to all three St. Lucia properties.
Sandals Royal Bahamian Moderate Nassau sits further north than most Caribbean islands, which slightly reduces hurricane exposure. Short flight from the US East Coast makes evacuation easier if needed. 10 restaurants and a private offshore island included.
Sandals Saint Vincent Moderate Lush volcanic terrain means more rainfall year-round by nature. Best visited in the drier season or early shoulder months. Brand-new resort opened March 2024 with 12 restaurants and overwater villas.
Sandals Jamaica (Dunn's River, Ochi, Negril, Royal Plantation) Higher Jamaica has two rainy seasons and sits squarely in the hurricane belt. May, June, and mid-August tend to be safer windows. Sep and Oct carry the highest risk. Always buy trip insurance for Jamaica in low season.

✨  Advisor Insight: If a client is set on traveling during July through October and wants to minimize weather risk, Sandals Royal Curacao is my first call. It does not look or feel like any other Sandals property, and the weather is genuinely reliable year-round. Sandals Grenada and Sandals Barbados are close seconds.

A Special Timing Opportunity in Late 2026 and Early 2027

If you have decided butler service is right for your trip, here are the properties we recommend most for the butler experience specifically.

☀️ The Sandals 2.0 Reopenings: Book Now for an Extraordinary Experience

Three Jamaica resorts are reopening after a $200 million transformation under the Sandals 2.0 design program. Each will feel completely new, with reimagined pools, new restaurants, and refreshed rooms, backed by experienced resort teams who know the property inside and out.

  • Sandals South Coast: Reopening November 18, 2026 Book Now →
  • Sandals Montego Bay: Reopening December 18, 2026 Book Now →
  • Sandals Caribbean Cay (formerly Sandals Royal Caribbean): Reopening December 18, 2026 Book Now →

Booking a January or February 2027 stay at any of these three properties means you get a brand-new resort experience at an established Jamaican destination with proven staff and service. It is one of the best timing opportunities in the Sandals portfolio right now.

Current Sandals Deals Worth Knowing About

One of the biggest advantages of working with a travel advisor like Shoreline Destinations is that we monitor Sandals promotions constantly and stack them for maximum savings. Here is what is currently available as of July 2026:

💰 Sandals Seasonal Promotions: How to Get the Best Price

Sandals runs promotions year-round and the active offers change frequently. As of July 2026, the summer promotion includes up to $1,500 in Instant Booking Credit, a spa credit, and a free night at select resorts for travel through September 30, 2026. Air credits are also available at select properties when bundling flights through the Sandals reservation system.

These stack with the weekly 777 Deal, an additional 7% off on seven specific room categories refreshed every week. On a 7-night Butler Suite, combining two or three promotions together can mean savings in the thousands.

Because Sandals promotions rotate frequently and some expire within days of launch, the best way to capture every eligible discount is to work with a Certified Sandals Specialist who monitors the calendar for you.

Browse all current Sandals specials →

View all Sandals all-inclusive resorts →

The 777 Deal is particularly worth knowing about because most travelers miss it. Every week, Sandals offers an additional 7% off on seven specific room categories across the portfolio. These deals rotate, expire after seven days, and stack on top of seasonal promotions and other offers. Over a 7-night stay in a Butler Suite, that extra 7% can represent hundreds of dollars. Your Shoreline advisor monitors this weekly and applies it automatically when it overlaps with your room category.

✨  Advisor Insight: Booking through a Certified Sandals Specialist like Shoreline Destinations costs you the exact same as booking directly with Sandals. The difference is that we watch the promotions calendar for you, apply every eligible stack at booking, and monitor for price drops afterward. We have saved clients hundreds of dollars post-booking when Sandals dropped rates after they had already confirmed their trip.

Timing a Destination Wedding at Sandals

At Shoreline Destinations, destination weddings are one of our specialties, and the question of timing comes up on every single wedding planning call we have. Here is our honest guidance.

For weather certainty above all else:

January through April is the answer. If the most important day of your life needs perfectly blue skies, book in the dry season and do not look back. It is worth every dollar.

For the best combination of weather and value:

Early November is genuinely beautiful and dramatically less expensive than the January through April peak. We have planned many stunning weddings in early November and the couples are always surprised by how perfect it feels.

For the most exclusive, intimate feel:

May and early June. You get excellent weather and lower occupancy across the resort, which means your wedding feels more private and the staff has more bandwidth for your event.

Our top destination wedding picks at Sandals, regardless of season:

‣  Sandals Grande Antigua for its spectacular beach ceremony settings on Dickenson Bay, one of the best beaches in the Caribbean

‣  Sandals Grande St. Lucian for the Piton mountain backdrop and private peninsula setting, which makes for extraordinary wedding photos

‣  Sandals Saint Vincent for couples who want something cinematic and brand-new, with volcanic scenery unlike any other Sandals property

‣  Sandals Negril for intimate sunset ceremonies on one of Jamaica's most iconic beaches

No matter when you choose, every Sandals resort offers a complimentary wedding package for couples who meet minimum stay requirements. Our team at Shoreline Destinations works directly with the on-site wedding coordinators to handle every detail so you are not managing logistics from two thousand miles away.

Timing Your Honeymoon at Sandals

Honeymoons at Sandals are deeply personal, and the timing question really comes down to one thing: how much flexibility do you have?

‣  Getting married in winter or spring? You are already in peak season. Lean into it. Late January through March is stunning. Sandals Grande St. Lucian is our number one honeymoon pick if the budget allows.

‣  Getting married in the fall? November and early December are excellent. You dodge the peak season premium while still getting beautiful Caribbean conditions.

‣  Getting married in summer? Late June or early July gives you summer pricing at reasonably stable weather. Get trip insurance. Sandals Royal Curacao is our top summer honeymoon recommendation.

‣  Want maximum luxury for your budget? Late April or May honeymoons consistently surprise couples who expected to compromise on weather. They almost always say it exceeded expectations.

Remember: Sandals offers a complimentary honeymoon package for couples who book within 30 days of their wedding date. This includes a sparkling champagne toast on arrival, special turndown service with flower petals on your first night, and a breakfast in bed on any morning of your choosing. It does not matter which month you go, that package is waiting for you.

✨  Advisor Insight: The most common feedback we hear from honeymoon clients? They wish they had booked a longer stay. If you are debating 5 nights vs. 7 nights, we almost always recommend 7. The Sandals experience really opens up after day three, when you have settled in, found your favorite restaurant, and stopped needing to do anything at all.

When to Book: Our Timing Recommendations

Swipe to compare →
Travel Timing Book This Far Out Our Guidance
Peak season (Dec 15 to Apr 30) 9 to 12 months out Top room categories, especially Butler Suites and overwater villas, sell out. The earlier you move, the better your options.
Shoulder season (May, Jun, Nov) 4 to 6 months out Less urgent than peak, but popular resorts and room types still fill. Booking early also locks in promotional pricing.
Low season travel (Jul to Oct) 2 to 6 months out More flexibility exists, but early bookings catch the best promotional stacks. Always add trip insurance at booking.
Late 2026 reopening resorts Book now for 2027 Caribbean Cay, Montego Bay, and South Coast will see high demand right after opening. Early bookings get first pick of new room categories.
Destination weddings and groups 12 to 18 months out Wedding date holds at Sandals require advance planning. We recommend starting the conversation at least a year before your target date.

Not Sure When to Go? Let's Figure It Out Together.

Here is the thing about timing a Sandals vacation: there is no universally perfect answer. There is only the perfect answer for you, your budget, your schedule, and the kind of experience you are looking for. That is exactly the kind of conversation we have every day at Shoreline Destinations.

Whether you are six months from a destination wedding, dreaming about a honeymoon, planning a group trip with friends, or just overdue for a week away from real life, we can help you find the right resort at the right time at the right price. And since booking through Shoreline Destinations costs you exactly the same as booking directly with Sandals, there is genuinely no reason not to have an expert in your corner.
