Sandals Royal Bahamian - Nassau

Although we haven't experienced much snow (yet), the cold weather has me longing for a weekend getaway to somewhere warm.  After visiting this resort in September, I think I've found a great option.  So coerce your friends and give me a call. Let's see.... short flight (2.5 hours or less from most spots on the East Coast), all-inclusive & adults only?!?  Yep, this one meets the criteria for a very fun escape!

Can you believe this view from the Beachfront Penthouse Butler Suite? I'm not sure I'd leave my balcony! You can see the private island in the distance. Absolutely my most favorite picture from this resort....

Take Me There

The Nassau airport is modern and efficiently run.  Transfers to/from the property are around 20 minutes.  Fun fact:  If you book a butler level suite, round trip transfers in a Rolls Royce or Mercedes sedan are included!  With many affordable non-stop flights along the East Coast, this destination is perfect for a long weekend getaway.

Talk To Me

This resort is big enough to give you multiple dining options and activities to enjoy but small enough to navigate with ease. You can go for 3 or 4 nights and feel like you had the opportunity to experience much of what the resort has to offer.

Resort Beach AND Private Island:  You'll get two beautiful beaches for the price of one (this is my most favorite thing about this property) because this resort has its own private island!  You get the resort with a great beach, pool, dining and activities AND you are a 10 minute boat ride away from Sandals private island.  Over there, you can spend the whole day enjoying the beach, dining at its own outdoor restaurant or swimming at the pool there.  You are getting two destinations in one trip!

Pools:  2 large main pools, 3 smaller pools plus a pool on Sandals Island.  Lots of activity & music at the main pools and all around a great place to either join in on the fun or just people watch (which is one of the best forms of entertainment to me anyway).  If the party atmosphere isn't what you are Into, quiet seclusion is just a few steps away.  There are many private spots throughout the resort and on the private island.

Restaurants & Bars:  You get 3 swim-up bars at this property plus another 5 around the resort.  There are 10 dining options offering an array of cuisine from French to Caribbean Seafood.  The featured restaurant is Baccarat.  It's intimate with a beautiful view of the pool at night.  Floor to ceiling windows give this small restaurant an open feel.  Make your reservations at the culinary concierge right away to ensure you get to experience it!

Which room to pick?  There are some fantastic options here. The resort consists of 404 rooms & suites with 26 different categories to choose from. My favorites are of course the most expensive but hey, if you are going to do it, do it right!!

The swim out suites are a new addition to the property and offer modern bedding, furniture, bathrooms and amenities.  Not to mention that you take two steps off your patio into a private heated pool.  However, the swim outs aren't the only great rooms...are you ready for a view?!?

Bring on the Butler!  This property offers room categories that come with your own private butler.  They get you checked in, help with unpacking, make all of your dining reservations, and set up your cabanas on the resort beach or over at the private island. You also have access to a restaurant on the pier (Gordon's) that is reserved for butler only category guests.  You'll enjoy a romantic dinner over the water.  I'm not going to list out all of the other things a butler but let me give you an example of what I witnessed while there:

I'm on the boat headed over to the island and I see a butler with a food tray next to him.  I asked him what he was doing and he said his clients didn't want to eat at the restaurant on the island so he was bringing lunch over from the main resort.  That sealed the deal for me!!  For a couple hundred more (depending on length of stay) to have that extra luxury is a real treat.  We all look at the final number when making our vacation plans, but doesn't it seem like once you get there you take on a new attitude of"I'm on vacation and I'm going to enjoy it"  ...even if that means spending $ on things that you wouldn't when you are home.  Make the most of your trip and consider selecting the Butler or Concierge level rooms!

Taking as many pictures as possible of this beautiful spot on the private island.....

Take My Breath Away

Bottom line is sometimes we all need to getaway to rejuvenate and maybe even find ourselves again.  In our busy lives, it's not always possible to do with schedules, commitments with the kids etc. etc.  However, I believe if you can carve out 3 or 4 nights away, you will leave here feeling like you pampered yourself (which we all need on occasion).  Speaking of... it's time to get back to planning my own winter escape.  Join me!
