Nayara Tented Camp

GLAMPING IN COSTA RICA

I recently had the chance to visit Nayara Tented Camp and it did not disappoint! This resort is located in the Arenal Volcano National Park, Costa Rica and merges the environment with luxury.

Inspired by the luxury canvas lodges of Africa, the resort is fully blessed with a wildlife-rich area, creating a true eco-friendly resort experience. Nayara Tented Camp opened in 2019 as the first luxury tented camp in Central America. Today, all eyes are on this unique luxury resort.

Modern luxury awaits.

Nayara Resorts in Costa Rica consists of Nayara Springs, Nayara Gardens, and Nayara Tented Camp. Their tented camps, which are at the very top of the hillside, remain very special. Currently, the tented camp resort consists of 21 tents, and many are mirror image tents connected together to form a stunning two-bedroom unit that can accommodate two couples or a couple with four children.

Tent Structure in Nayara Tented Camp

All 21 individual tents are elevated on stilts and can be accessed through footbridges that connect to the sidewalk on a steep slope across the property. The tents are directly facing the northern slopes of the Arenal Volcano and each has an infinity-edged plunge pool fed by natural hot springs. Each tent also has a private outdoor showering area and a soaking tub within the large bathroom.

The tents were designed by Ferrari and imported from Africa. The interior is luxury at its finest with flooring designed using Italian and Guatemalan marble and wood. While relaxing in your private tent, you’ll also enjoy listening to the birds and the sounds of the rainforest.

Many tents are mirror image tents connected to form a two bedroom unit for two couples or a family.

All tents face the northern slopes of the Arenal Volcano and rooms open to an infinity-edge plunge pool.

Bedrooms include large sliding glass doors and step out to a private patio and infinity-edge plunge pool.

All tents include a large bathroom with soaking tub and an outdoor private shower.

Dining

The dining in Nayara resort is a blend of both traditional and luxury. When you stay at Nayara Tented Camp, you have access to all of the restaurants at their sister hotels: Nayara Springs and Nayara Gardens. At the tented camp you’ll enjoy La Terraza Del Arenal, which serves a-la-carte local and international food, and Amor Loco, which is their signature fine dining.

Explore

If you spend two or more days within the resort, you’ll have time with a in-house guide. Your guide will let you explore the rainforest at your own pace. If you’re up for adventure, you’re in the right place. Arenal is referred to as the adventure capital of Costa Rica and you can experience zip lining, repelling, white-water rafting and more.

Relax

While at Nayara Tented Camp you’ll love their spa with open-air treatment pavilions. Treatments incorporate locally grown coffee, chocolate, and volcanic mud.

Sustainability

Nayara is an award-winning eco-friendly resort and is committed to protecting the environment. Costa Rica is one of the world's greenest countries, both literally and environmentally. A quarter of the country's land is protected from development, making it the world's largest protected land area. Therefore, the tented camp was erected on stilts and adequate to maintain space for planting trees and palms, in keeping with Nayara's vow to have a better impact on its beautiful site. They're dedicated to reforesting the area, planting thousands of trees and native plants. Nayara made it their goal to keep the tented camp as one of Costa Rica's most prestigious eco-resorts.

Feel the "Pura Vida" at Nayara Resorts

At Nayara, it is all about creating the magic of "Pura Vida," which means "pure life," around you. Nayara Tented Camp is one of the best luxury resorts in Costa Rica. The team at the resort always ensures the sustainability of the area as well as your comfort. The tented lodging setup with high-quality architecture and interior provides you with luxury, while breathtaking views around the resort allow you to feel one with nature. Once you visit Nayara, you won’t want to leave!

Andrea’s Takeaways

If you’re planning a stay at Nayara Springs, here are a few of my top tips!

  • Couples: Pick the tented camp for modern luxury, even if it's in the family friendly section, you have access to the adult only sections!

  • Nostalgia Wine Bar:  My absolute favorite "wow" moment from Nayara Springs. I couldn't get over this beautiful and cozy wine bar hidden in the rainforest. It was so warm and inviting, and totally unexpected.

  • La Terraza Restaurant:  The breakfast buffet here was fabulous.  From freshly pressed coffee to fresh coconut water, it was a delight and well surpassed the standard breakfast buffets!

  • Heading out on excursions? Grab pre-packaged sandwiches and snacks at the breakfast buffet at La Terraza. They had a wonderful selection to take with you on your adventures for the day.

  • Room not ready? I had my bathing suit packed and went immediately to the hot springs. I ended up staying there until 5pm when I decided I better go get my room. :)  It was a perfect way to spend the day without constantly worrying about when the room would be ready. They held all of my luggage (and even my carry-on with my valuables, which normally never leaves my side) locked and I did not worry one bit about it.

  • Want to hear the best live music? Go to Amor Loco (headed up by a Michelin Star chef) for live music from 7-9pm every night. Not only is it an incredible atmosphere, but the live music pulls the whole unique experience together.  Live music is also available at Mis Amores restaurant from 7-9pm.

  • Grab a caramel Frappuccino and / or a cortadito at Mi Cafecito! Perfection!!!

  • There are nature trails abound, but if you are tired of walking, don't be afraid to call for a golf cart. They are running all the time and the staff is so happy to talk about their beautiful hidden gem.

I’d love to get you to this incredible one-of-a-kind resort. Let’s check glamping and Costa Rica off your bucket list! Contact us to get started.

Cheers to all things travel!
