Why Disney Fans Love This All-Inclusive Resort in Mexico

Hotel Xcaret Mexico is part resort, part adventure vacation, and unlike just about any other family all-inclusive we’ve visited!

If your family has “done” Disney, you already know the drill: early mornings, Lightning Lane strategy, and a vacation that can somehow leave you needing another vacation.

So when families ask us, “Is there anything else out there that feels just as exciting for the kids, but a little easier on the parents?” Hotel Xcaret Mexico is always at the top of our list.

I’ve sent countless families here over the years, and they come home completely blown away! Then they tell their friends, their friends reach out to us, and the cycle continues. Hotel Xcaret definitely has that ripple effect because there truly is nothing else quite like it.

The resort is stunning from the moment you walk through the lobby. Architecturally, I still can’t get over it, and I’ve visited five times! Plus, with the resort’s newest additions, there is now even MORE for families to do right on the property.

Here’s why I think Hotel Xcaret Mexico might be the closest thing to Disney magic without actually going to Disney.

Hotel xcaret At a glance

Location: Riviera Maya, Mexico
Closest Airport: Cancún International Airport (CUN)
Best for: Active families, multi-generational trips, and families ready for something new after Disney
Recomended stay length: At least 5 nights, but 7 is even better if you really want time to explore
The big draw: Your resort stay includes dining, drinks, activities, transportation, and access to 7 different parks
Know before you go: This is not a traditional sit-on-the-beach-all-day resort
Our take: One of the most unique family resort experiences in Mexico

Tucked into the Riviera Maya, Hotel Xcaret Mexico blends right into its natural surroundings with rivers, coves, pools, and jungle woven throughout the resort.

What Makes Hotel Xcaret Mexico Feel Like Disney?

Picture this: you check in once, and suddenly every restaurant, every park, every activity for the next 5 nights is already paid for and waiting on you. That's the magic of the All-Fun Inclusive concept. Your stay includes unlimited access and transportation to all of Grupo Xcaret's parks:  Xcaret, Xel-Há, Xplor, Xplor Fuego, Xoximilco, Xenses, and Xenotes.

Think of it as your family's version of a Disney park-hopper pass, except it's already bundled into your resort stay and the "parks" are underground rivers, wildlife encounters, and jungle zip-lines instead of roller coasters.

So what? You're not standing at a kiosk calculating whether the Deluxe package is "worth it." You already own the whole vacation!

I’ve been to Hotel Xcaret Mexico five times, and every time I visit, I still find something new to explore. There really is THAT much to do here!

WHAT’S INCLUDED IN YOUR STAY?

🍽️ All-inclusive food and drinks
🌿 Access to 7 different parks
🚌 Transportation to and from the parks
🤿 Tons of activities right at the resort

Your family gets access to Grupo Xcaret’s parks, including Xcaret, Xel-Há, Xplor, Xplor Fuego, Xoximilco, Xenses, and Xenotes.

Think of it as your family’s version of a park-hopper pass, except the “parks” involve underground rivers, wildlife encounters, jungle zip lines, cenotes, snorkeling, and Mexican culture.

The best part? You’re not constantly pulling out your wallet or trying to decide whether one more upgrade is “worth it.” So much of the experience is already built into your stay.

Translation for parents: fewer add-ons to research, fewer logistics to coordinate, and fewer times you have to pull out your wallet once you arrive!

Your stay includes access to seven very different parks, with everything from underground rivers and jungle zip lines to wildlife and cultural experiences!

Want to Experience the Xcaret Parks Without Staying at Hotel Xcaret?

You can still visit the parks even if you’re staying at another resort! Purchase your park tickets below and plan a day full of adventure, culture, nature, and unforgettable experiences.

Xcaret Park: This is the park that started it all! Spend the day swimming through underground rivers, exploring Mexican culture and history, spotting wildlife, and wandering through beautiful natural spaces. Stay through the evening for Xcaret México Espectacular, the park’s huge nighttime show celebrating the history and culture of Mexico.
Xel-Há: If your perfect vacation day involves being in the water, this one is for you! Xel-Há is a natural aquatic playground where you can snorkel, float through crystal-clear water, explore cenotes, and climb the scenic lighthouse before taking a waterslide all the way back down.
Xenses: This is easily one of the most unique parks in the group! Xenses plays with your senses through optical illusions, unexpected experiences, a pitch-black cave, the famous Town, and a salt river where you can float effortlessly.
Xoximilco: Come hungry and ready to have fun! Xoximilco is a floating Mexican fiesta where you’ll cruise the canals aboard a colorful trajinera while enjoying live music, traditional food, drinks, dancing, and lots of laughs along the way.
Xplor Fuego: Love the idea of Xplor, but want to turn the adventure up a notch? Xplor Fuego takes place after dark, with torchlit jungle paths, fire features, nighttime zip lines, cave swimming, and plenty of after-hours adventure.

The Dining Alone Could Keep You Busy for a Week

This is one of my favorite parts, honestly!

Hotel Xcaret Mexico has an incredible variety of dining experiences, from casual spots that are perfect for families to restaurants created in collaboration with internationally recognized chefs.

Some restaurants require reservations, and we help our clients get those organized ahead of time. Others are more flexible, so you can decide what sounds good once you’re there.

It’s a great balance for families. You can plan the experiences you really don’t want to miss without scheduling every single dinner before your plane even takes off.

One night can be casual and easy with the kids, while the next feels like a full dining experience. The variety is one of the reasons we recommend staying long enough to actually enjoy the resort.

Eco-Parks Instead of Rides, and Kids Don’t Even Notice the Difference

This is exactly why I recommend this resort to so many families!

Instead of spending the entire vacation standing in line for rides, your kids could be snorkeling through underground rivers, ziplining through the jungle, exploring cenotes, or seeing flamingos and butterflies up close.

And here’s something first-time visitors almost always underestimate: you genuinely cannot do it all in one trip.

Between the parks, resort activities, cenotes, and experiences throughout the Riviera Maya, most families leave wishing they had booked another night or two.

The kids might not be meeting princesses here, but snorkeling through underground rivers and ziplining through the jungle tends to keep them pretty happy.

WHO IS THIS RESORT ESPECIALLY GREAT FOR?

  • Families who loved Animal Kingdom as much as the thrill rides

  • Parents who want their kids outside, exploring, and off their screens

  • Families with kids who need plenty of activity

  • Multi-generational trips where the grandparents want some relaxation while the grandkids want adventure

There is a LOT to choose from, which is why we help our clients decide what to reserve ahead of time and where to leave room for a spontaneous pool day.

Do You Need to Plan Ahead? Yes and No.

Here’s an honest advisor insight: just like Disney has its must-book dining experiences and ride reservations, Hotel Xcaret Mexico has certain restaurants and park experiences that can fill up and should be reserved in advance.

The good news is that you do not have to schedule every minute of your vacation.

If your family is more of a “let’s see how we feel when we wake up” kind of crew, there is still plenty to do without having every day mapped out months ahead of time.

This is exactly where we come in!

We help our clients figure out which restaurants and experiences are worth locking in early and which ones can be left open. That way, you get to enjoy the best parts of the resort without turning your vacation into a military operation.

ANDREA’S PRO TIP

Don’t try to schedule every park, every dinner, and every activity before you arrive. The goal is to experience Xcaret, not conquer it!

We help our clients choose the reservations worth making ahead of time while leaving enough room in the schedule to actually enjoy the resort.

Getting Around Is Actually Easy

One of the first questions families ask us is, “How do we get from the resort to all of these parks?”

Thankfully, Hotel Xcaret makes this part simple.

Transportation to the parks is included in your stay, with shuttles running between the resort and the different experiences. That means no rental car, no taxis, and no trying to figure out transportation logistics once you arrive.

You get everyone dressed, grab what you need for the day, and go.

One less thing to plan!

Park transportation is included, so getting from the resort to your next adventure is one less thing parents have to coordinate.

Seven parks. Twenty dining experiences. One vacation.

The only problem? Figuring out how to fit it all in. We’ll help you decide what to book, what to skip, and how to make Hotel Xcaret Mexico actually feel like a vacation.

PLAN MY XCARET VACATION

This Isn’t Really a “Beach Resort,” and That’s Kind of the Point

This is something I always want families to understand before they book.

If your dream vacation is spending five straight days in a beach chair with your toes in the sand, Hotel Xcaret Mexico probably isn’t the resort I would choose for you.

And that’s okay!

There are beautiful coves and waterways built into the property where you can swim, paddleboard, and kayak. But the real draw here is the sheer amount of things to do.

The resort is built around pools, activities, and exploring. There are water slides, a genuinely great kids club, spaces for teens, and daily activities that can easily fill an entire day without your family ever leaving the property.

That matters because some mornings, you may wake up and realize nobody feels like doing another park day.

No problem. Stay at the resort! I promise, you are not going to run out of things to do.

Hotel Xcaret Mexico may not be a classic toes-in-the-sand beach resort, but its coves and winding waterways give families plenty of ways to get in the water.

Why We Recommend Staying at Least Five Nights

I always tell clients: don’t book Hotel Xcaret Mexico like a quick weekend getaway.

There is simply too much to experience.

Five nights gives your family enough time to visit a few parks, enjoy the resort itself, spend some time by the pool, and have at least one slower morning where everyone can sleep in.

If Xcaret is an add-on to a longer Cancun or Riviera Maya vacation, a shorter stay can absolutely work. But if Hotel Xcaret is the main event? I recommend at least five nights.

A week is even better!

I’ve personally visited this resort five times, and I still haven’t experienced every park or eaten at every restaurant.

Not every day needs to be a park day. Some of the best Xcaret itineraries leave room for slow mornings, pool afternoons, and actually enjoying the resort you paid to stay at!

Is Hotel Xcaret Mexico Worth It Compared to Disney?

Here’s the honest answer: it depends on what your family wants from the vacation.

If your kids are obsessed with specific Disney characters, love traditional rides, and have been dreaming about walking down Main Street, Disney is still Disney. We love it too! In fact, we have dedicated advisors who specialize in planning Disney vacations.

But if you have already done Disney a few times and want to try something completely different, Hotel Xcaret Mexico is an incredible next trip.

It gives families that same feeling of waking up every morning with a huge list of exciting things they could do, while also giving parents the simplicity of having so much already included.

Choose Hotel Xcaret Mexico if your family loves adventure, pools, activities, nature, and exploring together.

Just don’t book it expecting a quiet, beach-chair kind of trip.

This resort is active, experience-driven, and designed for families who like to be doing something. If that sounds like your crew, this could easily become one of those trips your kids talk about for years.

For families who have done Disney and are wondering “what’s next?”, Xcaret delivers that same wake-up-excited feeling in a completely different way.

IS HOTEL XCARET MEXICO RIGHT FOR YOUR FAMILY?

Hotel Xcaret Mexico might be your family’s perfect fit if:

✓ Your kids would choose ziplining over sitting by the pool all day

✓ You love having lots of options without paying extra for every activity

✓ Your family likes nature, swimming, exploring, and adventure

✓ You need a vacation that works for kids, teens, parents, and grandparents

✓ You’ve done Disney and want that same “there’s so much to do!” feeling somewhere completely different

If you checked most of those boxes, we should probably talk!

Ready to See If Hotel Xcaret Mexico Is Your Family’s Next Trip?

We’ve planned Hotel Xcaret Mexico vacations for families who love Disney but are ready to try something new. Maybe you’ve already taken the kids to Disney a few times. Maybe you want a vacation with plenty for everyone to do, but you don’t want to plan every meal, activity, and transportation detail yourself.

Or maybe you’re picturing your family ziplining through the jungle one day, floating through an underground river the next, and spending an entire afternoon by the pool when everyone needs a slower day.

That’s exactly what makes Hotel Xcaret Mexico so special.

If you’re wondering whether it’s the right fit for your family, we’d love to help you figure it out and plan the trip from start to finish.
