Comparison of Overwater Bungalows at Sandals Resorts

Has staying in an overwater bungalow been on your bucket list? Well good news, there are overwater bungalows closer than you think! Three of the Sandals Resorts in the Caribbean have overwater bungalow options, all with luxurious accommodations and stunning views. The bungalows are the perfect escape for a honeymoon, anniversary trip, or just for a couple looking for a unique getaway. With so many options, it can be hard to decide on exactly which bungalows are the best fit for you so I thought it would be helpful to go through what makes each unique!

First, a little bit about Sandals Resorts…

There are 17 Sandals Resorts in the Caribbean and each resort is unique. Whether you’re looking for a large lively resort with a lot of entertainment or a smaller and quieter resort, there are plenty of options to choose from. All Sandals Resorts are couples-only and all-inclusive.

At Sandals Resorts, all-inclusive means that all of your dining, drinks, activities, entertainment, airport transportation, gratuities, and taxes are included. This means no hidden fees when you book your room! For most couples, the only additional expenses they have are at the spa or an excursion at their destination.

We love that Sandals Resorts are all set on stunning beaches, have incredible rooms and suites, included unique dining options, and have fun entertainment. Plus - if you stay on an island with multiple Sandals Resorts, you’ll have access to the other Sandals Resorts on the island!

Now that you know more about Sandals Resorts, let’s dive into the bungalows!

SANDALS SOUTH COAST

Sandals South Coast is located on the South Coast in White House, Jamaica. Enjoy the sunset from the bungalows in a king-size bed, outdoor shower, outdoor soaking tub, private patio, or hammock. Even peek into the underwater world through the glass floor panels.

Overwater bungalows come with 24-hour butler service and private airport transfers. All of the bungalows, in unison, create the shape of a heart over the water. There are a total of 12 bungalows, and all are spacious and modern with large decks. Thanks to the room service, you never have to leave the bungalow if you don’t want to.

What makes Sandals South Coast so great is its privacy. The resort is located on a 500-acre nature preserve, so it’s not near any other resort, allowing guests to enjoy a quiet and private vacation. The resort even has the longest pool in Jamaica at 1,000 square feet.

SANDALS ROYAL CARIBBEAN

Sandals Royal Caribbean is located in Montego Bay, Jamaica. The bungalows at this resort deliver a completely immersive experience. They’re located on a private island just off the mainland and can only be accessed by boat. Glass floor panels and a large outdoor patio with hammocks and soaking tubs make it easy to never want to leave your bungalow. Your 24-hour butler will provide a private water taxi so you can get to and from the mainland resort as often as you’d like.

The best thing about Sandals Royal Caribbean bungalows is that they’re on an island. This is such a unique feature, and it creates a very private, romantic environment, mainly because the 17 bungalows form the shape of a heart. Five bungalows even have private infinity pools, so if you grow tired of one body of water you can go to the other. The water here is also much shallower than the other resorts at around 3-5 feet deep instead of the normal 15 feet!

SANDALS GRANDE ST. LUCIAN

Sandals Grande St. Lucian is located on Pigeon Island Gros Islet, St. Lucia. It has less bungalows than the other two, with only nine overwater bungalows. Still, a great feature about this resort is you can visit the two other Sandals Resorts in Saint Lucia and enjoy all the amenities and restaurants.

Overwater bungalows at Sandals Grande St. Lucian have large decks with an outdoor shower, hammocks, and a soaking tub. The glass floor panels allow you to watch the mysterious underwater world below you while your 24-hour butler service provides you with anything you could need.

SANDALS SAINT VINCENT AND THE GRENADINES

Sandals Saint Vincent and the Grenadines is a brand new all-inclusive resort opening in March 2024 located on its own private cove! Saint Vincent is off the beaten path in the Caribbean which means the beauty is untouched and ready for exploring! A very peaceful vibe along with beautiful blue water, lush rainforests, and white sand beaches make this a destination to add to your list!

The overwater bungalows at this resort are two stories, located in a private cove, include a hanging day bed right in front of your room that hangs over the water, a soaking tub, in-room dining, and a second floor deck! This room even features Sandals Elite Butler Service as a way to make your trip even more relaxing and luxurious.

Which overwater bungalow is right for you?

Well, that depends. They’re all great in their own ways. Sandals South Coast is the most private resort. Sandals Royal Caribbean has the most unique bungalows because they’re on a private island, and Sandals Grand St. Lucian allows you to visit other resorts during your stay.

That said, our favorite is the overwater bungalows at Sandals South Coast. They’re private, yet it’s still easy to access the mainland resort by the dock. The resort also has some great restaurants and offers many activities for its guests.
